South of Argentinian Patagonia: legendary mountains such as Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre; some of the most imposing glaciers on the planet such as the Perito Moreno and the Viedma; estancias and thousands of hectares covered by gauchos, an immensity as far as the eye can see along the Andes, ending at the end of the world! to Ushuaïa in Tierra del Fuego and the Beagle Channel.

The gaucho in the south of Patagonia Argentina

The most beautiful awaits you… The South of Argentinian Patagonia. Every year, I walk through these lands and I always have the same amazement at the spectacle that nature has been able to create here and offer it to us.

Patagonia of all superlatives

Southern Argentina and Chile share Patagonia, land of superlatives, a dream common to each of us. Just the word “Patagonia” can trigger an unreasonable madness, which takes us far from our daily lives, into an imaginary and mysterious world, combining wild immensity and ancestral cultures. This world is, however, very real and I can help you discover it during your trip to Argentina in the extreme South…

The eastern region of Patagonia, on Argentine territory, is the best known. The images of Epinal, often very real, have immortalized it and conveyed it to everyone’s imagination:

The gaucho on his horse followed by his dogs, leading gigantic herds of sheep; the arid Pampa as far as the eye can see, without any geographical distraction; the straight and endless roads, punctuated every hundred kilometers by a town, isolated, like an improbable mirage in this immense desert; the oil wells on which the great metal spiders swing; all swept away by clouds of dust, the crushing heat of the sun and the intoxicating wind. This is terrifying Patagonia. Lying under gusts that are said to be permanent, lacerated by thousands of sites with mythical names, it is a part of the world that all adventurers and writers can dream of, like Blaise Cendrars who wrote at beginning of the century: “There is only Patagonia that suits my immense sadness”

Anteroom of Antarctica, Argentinian Patagonia stretches its strange and solitary universe as far as Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. Witnesses to the silent battles between ice and granite, needles emerge like lighthouses. Dominating the steppe, one of the most beautiful massifs on the planet, close to “El Chaltén”, the towers of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre raise their wild and their gigantic ice caps. There is one of the most impressive glacial spectacles on the planet: the explosion of the Perito Moreno icebergs.

El Calafate, charming little town in the south of Argentinian Patagonia, will be the starting point for many excursions. From there, you can discover over several days the trilogy of great Andean landscapes: El Calafate, El Chaltén (capital of trekking) and Torres del Paine… for an extension to South of Chile.
