Hiking and treks are in high demand during a trip to Argentina and Chile. It must be said that all the landscapes that you’ll see during your journey through these immense territories deliver much more richness when approached very closely.
The hikes I offer are accessible to everyone. When the difference in altitude is a little greater, the magnificent reward is always at the end of the effort! During the southern winter, when hiking is not possible due to the presence of snow, snowshoeing is an excellent way to walk, enjoy the landscapes and very quickly find yourself alone in the middle of a virgin nature. Here are some examples of hikes that I offer you, knowing that many others are possible and in regions other than those presented below.
Around the volcanoes in Chile

Villarrica National Park
After breakfast at the hotel, we leave Pucón in Chile. This hike will take us to the Villarrica National Park, to the summit of the Quetrupillán volcano, 2,365 m high. During the walk, we’ll discover the high altitude forests before finding ourselves on its slopes, from where we’ll appreciate various volcanic formations. Located in the heart of the Villarrica National Park, it’s the best viewpoint over the Lanín and Villarrica volcanoes.
From its summit, you can also see the many other volcanoes and lakes in the region. One of the strong points of this hike is that the places are not very crowded. This trek does not present any technical difficulties, but it’s intended for people in good physical condition, considering the significant difference in altitude: 1,300 m. In fall, winter and spring, snow often forces us to use snowshoes. Charming hotels or accommodation are included in this tailor-made tour.
One of the most beautiful parks in Chile

Torres del Paine National Park
Departing from the Torres del Paine National Park, different treks from 1 to 9 days are possible. The “Torres del Paine” National Park is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the world. There, nature is very hostile and you can have all 4 seasons in the same day.
In the middle of the park are the famous Paine Towers, where numerous lakes, lagoons, glaciers and animals await you! This wonderful place also offers a wide choice of walking routes, the two best known being the 50 km long “Circuito W” which lasts around 5 days, and the 106 km long “Circuito Macizo Paine” which lasts around 9 days. Torres del Paine National Park was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO on April 28, 1978.
Around the lakes of Patagonia

Lagoon Llum and the lakes of Bariloche
Hikes starting from Lake Mascardi, near San Carlos de Bariloche. One way takes around 3 hours – round trip takes around 6 hours; very pleasant trek in the middle of forests and rivers.
Halfway along the route we pass by a sumptuous beach, “Playa León”, overlooking Lake Mascardi before going up to Lagoon Llum. Another 30 minutes of ascent to observe the Tronador volcano, the “Corazón” (“heart”) Island and Lake Mascardi with its turquoise color: simply grandiose!!! You can also sleep there, camp near the Llum Lagoon, or come back down the same day.
Nahuel Huapi National Park

Trekking Paso de las Nubes in Bariloche
Hikes departing from Puerto Pañuelo. Another exceptional circuit in Argentine Patagonia, consisting of one night in “wild” camping in 3 possible bivouac areas. The route lasts 2 days, including 12 hours of walking in total.
We start with a boat trip to Puerto Pañuelo, then we cross the incredible green Lago Frías. The trek begins here, in the middle of forests, rivers and bamboos. Surely one of the most beautiful walks in the region, with superb views of Tronador about halfway. The path runs along two rivers, the Río Frías and the Río Alerce. We arrive in Pampa Linda on the second day, and the return to Bariloche will be by road.
The hills of Bariloche

Trekking Cerro Bella Vista in Bariloche
Walks departing from an area called Colonia Suiza and Lake Moreno East. The one way trip takes around 3 hours – round trip around 6 hours; very pleasant trek in the middle of forests to arrive at the top of Cerro Bella Vista, where the view is surprising.
Superb relatively short walk, which takes us to a ridge of the Cerro Bella Vista mountain, to offer you a grandiose spectacle: the view of Lake Nahuel Huapi almost in its entirety, view of Lakes Lopez, Tronador and Catedral. A sumptuous walk, certainly one of the most beautiful in the sector, with the added bonus of a great chance to observe condors very, very closely…
Southern Argentine Patagonia

El Chaltén, Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre
From El Chaltén, in the Southern Argentine Patagonia, there are many possibilities for one or two day treks. El Chaltén is considered the Trekking capital of Argentina. It must be recognized that the site is absolutely beautiful and surely one of the most beautiful places in all of Patagonia.
Many walks to observe Cerro Fitz Roy, 3,405 m (perhaps the most beautiful mountain in the world) and Cerro Torre, 3,102 m (one of the 5 most difficult mountains in the world to climb). The classics of the region are: Laguna Torre, Laguna Capri, Laguna de los Tres, Loma del Pliegue Tumbado, Lago Del Desierto… A large choice of treks, don’t hesitate to contact me!!
Tierra del Fuego National Park

Guanaco Trekking in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego
To start this trek in Ushuaia, we must go to Tierra del Fuego National Park. The walk begins with a gentle incline through a beautiful forest. After about two hours of walking, we reach the last part of the trek, the most sumptuous but with a steeper slope. The view is magnificent over the mountains, the Beagle Channel… All this in the middle of an almost lunar environment.
Don’t forget to bring paper and a pen, because at the top, where the walk ends, a surprise awaits us… Am I telling you?? … OK, we’ll find a box there, where we can leave a message or a wish, and this, at the end of one of the most southern treks in the world. Afterwards, all we have to do is go back down the same way.
