Rafting is a way to discover beautiful landscapes, far from the roads and hiking trails, particularly on the rivers of Patagonia.
In Chile as in Argentina, the landscapes crossed by following the rivers are virgin, free walks, a risk-free adventure to explore the world of rivers with rapids… Rafting is therefore an activity for everyone, ideal for enjoying nature, in complete safety, sportingly and in a good mood. Here are some examples of rafting excursions that I offer you, knowing that many others are possible and in other regions than those presented below.
Rapid descent in the Andes

The Hua-Hum River by Rafting
You’ll arrive in the Hua-Hum area on Lake Nonthue, along Lake Lacár, located 46 km from San Martin de los Andes, in the North of Argentinian Patagonia. Rapids of second degree of difficulty exist on the international Hua-Hum passage. They are accessible to the whole family. The river that you’ll descend originates here and serves as a drain for Lake Lácar, flowing into the Pacific.
The adventure begins on a route with emerald-colored waters, surrounded by giant ferns (typical of the Valdiviana jungle with rainfall of 4,000 mm/year), then we pass by waterfalls and thermal springs, whose temperature is above 20°C, gushing on one side of the river.
The zigzag is constant between the mountains rising on the shore. The thick undergrowth embraces the rocks and gains altitude, up to the exact point, where the white mantle remains completely devoid of any type of vegetation. The speed of navigation causes an indescribable sensation, which will make you want to try other circuits.
Crossing the Andes by Rafting

From Argentina to Chile
Rafting across the border between Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia… are you up for it? To start, we head from San Carlos de Bariloche to the Río Manso. This river begins at the foot of Mount Tronador and flows into the northern end of Lake Mascardi. Meandering and pleasant, it’s an excellent river for rafting, while admiring the surrounding countryside, with breathtaking views of Tronador and Pampa Linda in Argentina.
In the middle of the rapids, magnificent landscapes and thrills are guaranteed, especially from the second day! At the end of the course, we’ll be in Chile. The management team is very professional and friendly, the good atmosphere is there!
The rapids of southern Chile

Descent of the Futaleufú River
South of Esquel and Los Alerces National Park, on the Chilean side, is the very charming village of Futaleufú, where the river of the same name flows. The Futaleufú River is fantastic and one of the most difficult in the world for rafting. The sensations will be there, but rest assured, you’ll go down the river with the safest team. Do you dare to take on the Futaleufú?
The rapids in the North of Chilean Patagonia

Descent of the Petrohué River
The Petrohué River flows through the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park from Todos los Santos Lake to the Reloncavi Fjord. An incredible rafting route in the middle of one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, on the Petrohué River!!
Departing from Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt in Chile, you’ll be along the entire 15 km of the route, with behind you the Osorno volcano as well as the Puntiagudo volcano and in front of you the Calbuco volcano… In short, a supernatural landscape in the middle of 3 volcanoes and the cormorants that will accompany you. For those looking for immensity…
The rapids in the North of Argentinian Patagonia

Descent of the Aluminé River
A very interesting option for this still little-used river. The Aluminé River, which originates from the lake of the same name, north of Junín de los Andes. It’s renowned for being one of the best rivers in Argentina for whitewater sports (rafting, kayaking, etc.).
Depending on your level and the number of participants, you’ll be able to descend two sections of the Río Aluminé. One of these sections has larger and quite long rapids.
The rapids of the Northwest Argentina

Descent of the Juramento River
I offer you a day of rafting in Salta, in the Northwest of Argentina. You’ll discover the Río Juramento which is the most beautiful river in this “Far West” region for practicing Rafting. In places, the level is 3/4 and the sensations are guaranteed.
The descent lasts about 2 hours. At noon, you’ll enjoy an “asado” as a meal. Then, you’ll have the opportunity to follow a “Canopy” course (platforms in the trees). This day of activities in the Northwest of Argentina will leave you with indelible images and memories!
