Second trip!
Travel to Peru, Bolivia, Chile
Stay from November 15, 2024 to December 13, 2024Dear Boris,
We wanted you to plan our trip to “Peru, Bolivia, and Chile” just as you planned our trip to Argentina. We had an extraordinary four weeks. Everything was perfect, from the choice of itineraries and hotels to the guides and drivers, all of whom were excellent, friendly, professional, and attentive to our every need.
Our trip to Peru:
Lima, not very interesting but a must-see; Arequipa, very nice; Colca Canyon, wow; Taking a “hot” bath in Aguas Calientes; And finally Machu Picchu, it was wonderful to be there and in the sun. A big thank you to Félix, our guide, and Freddy, our driver. Then Cuzco, Puno, and Lake Titicaca; Visit to Taquile Island, very pretty. We were lucky enough to spend a night on the Uros Islands, it was magical, a small islet far from the boats where our hosts Muriel and (Gabriel?) kindly welcomed us, fishing and sunset in a typical island boat. Our spacious room was very clean and even had hot water for the shower. A bed was also set up outside to appreciate the beauty and calm of the place. Highly recommended!!!
Bolivian border:
Oh, that was something to cross the border “a bridge” on foot with the suitcases. We felt like we were in a movie, it set the tone for what followed, and what a sequel… Of the three countries visited, this is the one we preferred. Fantastic, magnificent landscapes, very kind and authentic people, very few tourists; La Paz is immense but has a lot of charm, very different neighborhoods that are visited by cable cars. And finally, my husband’s dream came true – The Salar de Uyuni, being at the top of the islet with its giant cacti surrounded by a sea of salt as far as the eye can see. It must be said that since our crossing the border, we had Alexandre as our guide and German as our driver, whom we embrace affectionately. They made our trip to Bolivia a perfect success. We were treated to a “luxury picnic” on the salar, incredible and so unusual. While everyone stopped at the island and turned around because it had rained, German took us across. We were even lucky enough to see the mirror reflection, what a sight!!!
Then we head towards landscapes, each more beautiful than the last: multi-colored lagoons, guanacos, flamingos, rabbits with flat tails and ultra-long whiskers, foxes… Then the Sol De Mañana plateau with geysers and hot water baths. Here again, unusual moments that allowed us to bathe at almost 5,000 m altitude, incredible!!!
So, we say goodbye to our friends Alexandre and German to move on to Chile:
San Pedro de Atacama, dusty but absolutely fantastic. Sophie guided us for a few days in this incredible desert. Magnificent landscapes, different from those we think of when we talk about desert. The Salar de Atacama, certainly not as grandiose as that of Uyuni, but worth the detour. The site of Piedras Rojas, exceptional, the contrast with the green water lagoon is a must-see. The Rainbow Valley, which deserves its name, absolutely splendid. We participated in a stargazing, for me seeing Saturn was an exceptional moment, it must be said that the team had a suitable telescope. Santiago de Chile, some nice neighborhoods. Last days in Valparaiso, thanks to Vincent for his visit and many tips. Pretty port city, full of color, which can be visited in some neighborhoods by cable car. We also took the local bus “to laugh” the excitement of the city has a certain impact on the drivers, a must-do.
So, that’s the end of our wonderful trip. Thank you, Boris, for your professionalism, your perfection, and your kindness. You were attentive to our needs and checked in on us regularly. Everything was perfect, from the choice of tours, guides, and hotels.
Thank you so much and don’t change anything.
Yours,
Michèle and Michel
