For fans of fossils and ancient rocks, I can suggest amazing trips to view all traces of the past here in Patagonia, such as the geology, minerals, natural erosion and fossils. Other highlights include viewing ancient fossilised trees, the oldest dinosaur fossils ever found and glaciations that have taken place over millions of years all exceptional vestiges of geological past that never fail to surprise.

Here you can find further information through an example.

Monte León National Park

| Starting point "Río Gallegos" for exemple.

| Duration 1 day.

| Activity with guide.

| The national park "Monte León" is the first Argentinean coastal national park, inaugurated in 2004. 60 000 h of steppe Patagonian and 40 km of a spectacular littoral consisted of impressive headlands. Many colonies of Magellan penguins, sea lions, cormorants and of guanacos populate these amazing landscapes. But the great curiosity of this place is without any doubt (for my part) the cave "Olla" accessible to low tide. It is about a gigantic cave dug by the sea. Here one incredible effect and result work of water to the centuries… I invite you to come to discover this place not too known and so much wonderful.

Santa Cruz - Forest and fossils

| Starting point "National Route 3".

| Duration between half day and 1 day.

| Activity with guide.

| An intense volcanic activity made that the vast forests of the area are reduced in ash, approximately 150 million years ago. Erosion revealed the Araucaria ancestor, a tree which is only in the southern hemisphere, mineralized measuring up to 3 m diameter and 35 m height. The currents also played an important part by moving certain trees fossils up to now since mountainous areas... It is really a spectacle astounding and here, like often in Patagonia, very few tourists. I recommend highly.

These parks were added to the list of the world inheritance by UNESCO in 1984 and 1986, respectively. The falls are located in majority on the Argentinean side, but the sight is more spectacular Brazilian side. In Argentina, several circuits of visits were arranged in the forest and to the top of the various river branches, via various footbridges. It is possible to approach a few meters only to the falls. A train leads to the various starting points of the visits, of which the most impressive cascade, Garganta Del Diablo (700 m of length and 150 m broad).

Talampaya - National Park

| Starting point "Villa Unión or San Juan".

| One day trip, with transfer included. On the following day, an optional visit of the "Moon Valley" can be scheduled...

| The landscape structure here is considered to be the outcome of various tectonic mouvements, which originated the upheaval of huge  rocky blocks. For thousands of years, these blocks have suffered erosion from furious wind (in Spring) and heavy rains (in Summer), with the addition of typical desertic zone thermic ranges, resulting from the contrast between night and day temperatures. The park average altitude is 1 500 yards. The climate is continental. The site has been included in UNESCO World heritage List since the year 2000.

Borispatagonia

Patagonia in all seasons menu. For example, according to the climate, from Bariloche, in Patagonia Argentina, it is possible to go to Puerto Montt, in Chile, crossing successively three lakes by boat, as did the Jesuits and the first German settlers. I offer a tour that leads to the Pacific Ocean. It is quite long, but the beauty of the sites - forests, volcanoes and crystalline lakes - is such that it is worth to be carried. The Argentine side, cross the west arm of Nahuel Huapi and Lake Puerto Alegre and, the chilen side, Lake Todos los Santos. Moving from one lake to another by bus. This tour is feasible in all seasons, but in winter, it takes two days to reach Puerto Montt, stopping for one night at Peulla. We returned to Bariloche by air or by the same way, after a night in Puerto Montt. Borispatagonia is also responsible for visas to go to Chile and to book hotels. In Patagonia, winter and summer are tourist seasons. In summer, besides explore the surrounding, many activities are available: climbing, torrent fishing, sailing, horseback riding, hiking, rides, visits to Aciendas... In winter, the main activity is, of course, skiing, especially in July and August on the side of the Andes, but not only: snowshoe hikes, thematic tours, many walks to admire the beauty of Patagonia Argentina and Chile in this season, due a unique light, the warmth of the people of Patagonia... Just to talk about, I get goose bumps!
